Redesigning Migration Information Centres to promote safe Migration
2019 / 6 weeks / EU-IOM Joint Initiative / The Gambia
For this project I joined forces with the UN Migration Agency (IOM) to find new ways of reaching out to young people in West Africa. In order to identify adapted ways for promoting safe migration, I conducted one month of field research, in-dept interviews, organized co-creation workshops and facilitated design interventions within two selected youth centers in The Gambia. My people-centered assessment of the youth centre’s social profile and discoveries of untapped creativity will guide real-life solutions and future activities. Furthermore, the key findings highlight once more the importance of building bridges between Design and the social sector.
With the support of IOM, the Gambian National Youth Council runs migration information offices within 3 existing youth centers. This pilot project is part of the EU-IOM Joint Initiative.
